A one hour appointment in a private room includes intake and treatment. The Acupuncturist may use any modalities she feels are clinically appropriate, and that the patient agrees to, including: TCM style acupuncture, Japanese Meridian Therapy style acupuncture, moxabustion, gua sha, cupping, wet cupping, Eastern nutrition or lifestyle counseling.

A 1.5 hour treatment starts with an intuitive conversation to light the path. Together we will connect to our higher selves. The treatment portion may include any of the above modalities or other shamanic work.

Reiki

Reiki is administered through the hands of a Reiki practitioner with the client lying fully clothed on a massage table. The Reiki practitioner places her hands at locations around the body. Tissue is not manipulated. Reiki energy flows from the practitioner’s hands and into the client’s body and energy field. Benifits include feelings of relaxation, peace, and well-being that promote healing.

Theira Smith LAc, MSTOM, RN, BSN started her career in healthcare as a Registered Nurse where she worked for 10 years, first in the Intensive Care Unit, then in the Emergency Room. In 2012 Thiera was introduced to Traditional East Asian Medicine and, although her background in Western thought initially provoked skepticism, the overwhelmingly positive successes she had in her personal health while being treated with Acupuncture and other Eastern Modalities created a passion for this relevant and effective medicine. Thiera went on to study at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, now Pacific College of Health and Science- Chicago. In addition to graduating with her Masters of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine in 2016, she finished certification as a Reiki Master Practitioner. In February 2016 Thiera opened a community acupuncture clinic out of Centered Studios in Rogers Park. In 2018 she began contracting with Western Medicine physicians to provide acupuncture for both chronic pain and mental health clinics. Thiera joins the Tribe community in 2020 as a licensed and nationally boarded Acupuncturist. Her work is strongly informed by the Traditional East Asian idea that there is no difference or separation between the physical body, emotions, and spirit. Imbalances in one of these areas can lead to signs and symptoms of dis-ease in the other two. Thiera uses a combination of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Japanese Meridian Therapy, and Reiki to provide treatments that not only facilitate healing of the body, emotions, and spirit but also grow those three aspects together. She is particularly passionate about working with people who know this connection to be true for themself, or have an openness to exploring that idea. Thiera’s professional focus is on chronic/ long term conditions, especially if the person has “tried everything.” Examples include chronic pain, headaches, anxiety/ depression, and other mental health diagnoses.
